Hello all again.

I wish to make some changes to my 919 and I need some information.

I hope you all here can be very helpfull.

Some of you might hate me for what you are about to read but unfortunately is true.

I have had the bike for more than 5 months.

Before 919 I had a XT600 before that a Gsf600 Bandit before that an R6 before that a Cbr400 before that an XV250 and for many years I used to ride small motorcycles, as I was living in a big city (Thessaloniki), "ducks" as we call them here were very usefull. Those were 2 Yamahas T50 and T80 and one Honda cub90 which I still have. It has almost 50.000miles

On topic now:

The 919 is far the best motorcycle I have ever had.

Its engine is a plain diamond and unbreakable also, its brakes are awesome, and the handling on turns exceptional.

Although there are some dark things about it.

First of all is its wind coverage that practically doesnt exist even with the biondi windshield.

Second is the capability to carry some things for long trips Topcase and side cases are a solution but the racks for those are not exactly easy to find and they cost a lot of money

And the third thing is that for trips (in one day) over 250miles its seat is not exactly the comfortable ever.

What I want to do is first of all find a wind shield that would provide me with GOOD wind protection. It doesn't matter to me if it is not beautifull.
Any link would help me but I prefer if you had tried yourself and your oppinion of course. And maybe even a photo of your bike with the windshield on.

Some of you might tell me "What did you except buying a naked bike?"

Well the point is that it is my first totally naked bike. Gsf600 had a mini fairing but I only kept for 13 months.

Now that I discovered 919 I dont want to it sell because I cant stand the wind striking me on it. It is pretty good. I want to ride it in trips around here and enjoy it as much as I can.

And one question as a last resort for me. Does CBF1000 has the same chassis with 919? Cause I get crazy thoughts!!!

Anyway the second thing is that i need some help with racks, links etc. Even used would do. For both topcase and sidecases. Here also a photo would be very usefull

And the third thing that I would like is your oppinion on custom made seats for our bike. There is a store in Thessaloniki that modifies seats but I dont know if it would be usefull for long trips or how the hell does it look like having a custom made seat like those in Varadero's

For all the above I thank you in advance for reading it and the help you might provide me!!!

As for seats I could link you a few American manufacturers (Corbin and Sargent), but you may want to try that local company you mentioned.

Upgrading your saddle is always a great idea. It's something you can feel everytime you ride it!

For the windscreens you have many choices, just google it. I like the honda factory screen because it looks the best but it's also the smallest.

Frames are not the same, so forget about swapping motors. Anything is possible, but if you really need more power it's best to just buy a new bike.

Welcome to the site!

Actually power is not my concern. 919 has all the power that I need and maybe more than I can handle safely.

My ideas have to do with CBF's front fairing and its larger variety of windshields to pick from!!!!

How do you think about a Cbf900 Hornet????

Sounds crazy I know but it crossed my mind

Petros have you ever looked into GIVI?
As I own a 599 rather than a 919 I can not give you the exact details on how well everything works however they provide a great screen for the 599 which is VERY similar to the 919 screen.

The givi screen worked wonders for the 599 so Im sure it will be just as good for your bike. They also make side and top mount cases as well which can be found at the same link.

Overall it seems to be a great company and provide great quality products.

Dont forget if you are into more power you can always regear for a drastic difference. :thumbsup

Actually I was hoping you could link me to a tested LARGE windshield.

The twisted throttle link's windshield is kind of small.

I love the bike but I need wind protection.

Otherwise I would have to sell it to buy something else.

The thing with the wind is far too serious, for me at least.

Anyway thanks for the information so far.

I have the GIVI windscreen on my 599 -- I don't find that it offers a whole lot of protection. Basically just directs the wind from my chest to the top of my helmet. I'm not really aware of any 'large' windshields that would fit... maybe try to google "national cycle" -- I know they make custom windshields for cruisers and such.

The GIVI side and top cases are excellent if you want a hard case --- although I've never been a fan of the tube steel you have to install to mount them. Many additional options for soft cases if that works for you.

I never found the wind to be too much of a problem. Once you get over 120 kmh I suppose it gets a little hairy, but you just learn to live with it.

Welcome.

Here is my MRA VarioTouringScreen review: http://www.honda599.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7058

Made by a German company, not very common around here but probably easier to get where you are.

I like it a lot, I've been fine tuning combinations of angles for the large and small portions of the screen, and I'm getting good results.

I've been using the national cycle f-16 tall on my 919, it's a decent little shield, but I really only use it in the winter, so I have something I can tuck down behind... here it is on my bike...

However, for more protection, (and you don't mind it being ugly) they also make a shield they call the Plexifairing GT. I've used something close to it on my Nighthawk 750 (cb750) with good success. Here's the pic from their site.

Both can be purchased at www.nationalcycle.com (http://www.nationalcycle.com), but I don't know if they deliever to greece.

As far as luggage. i want a set of hard cases, but for the time being I'm happy with my cortech soft luggage. Which work really well for the "long trip" I take.

As far as a seat... I'd look around local...

Don't know if these will help you out or not... Best of luck my 919 brother!!!

The second one is 21 inches height. The best I have ever seen and I suppose it provides great protection. I havent found in their site if there are delivering to Greece but this will not be a problem as I have first cousin in the states and they can order for me and then send it to me through the regular way.

For side cases today I went to a local big store that also sells Givi's products and the salesman there showed me cases with their metallic bases and they cost around 400 euros both of them. It seems to me a good deal.

As for the seat I ended up to the local guy in Thessaloniki and by next week I will have a new one custom made at the cost of 80 euros I will post photos when I put it on.

But the windshield is what I was looking for.

Diehard919 thank you very much!!!!!!!!

you might wanna post/have a look at the british Hornet site (http://www.hondahornet.co.uk/messageboard2/).

Not that that there is anything wrong posting here or that the guys here are not helpful but in terms of sourcing addons/accesories it might be cheaper if its from the UK ;)

As for the changes I am about to make they are postponed for a while because there is a problem making my life difficult and the motorcycle is in for service since yesterday and will be for at least 4 days. I think. At least I hope so.
