From the local newspaper:
WEST VALLEY CITY — A motorcyclist's attempted wheelie ended badly with the bike crashing and catching fire Sunday.
The 28-year-old rider was heading west on 3500 South near 4900 West about 4:25 p.m. with a fellow motorcyclist when police said he tried to impress his friend with a wheelie. Instead, the bike flipped over backward, sending the rider sprawling and the bike skidding on its side, said West Valley Police Lt. Dalan Taylor.
The bike's fuel tank grinded against the road as it skidded about 80 feet, resulting in a leak that caused the bike to catch fire, Taylor said. Police closed down 3500 South between 5200 and 4800 West. Firefighters put out the fire.
The man was transported to a local hospital in serious condition with a broken leg and a deep laceration to the bone, Taylor said.
Ouch!
