Hey, my name is Jeff and I live in the middle Tennessee area. I just bought my 2004 Honda 599 a few days ago and I'm LOVING it! This bike is clean and it only has 3200 miles on it. The original owner had three motorcycles and for whatever reason rode this one less than the others. I look forward to spending too much $$$ customizing it. I'll lean heavy on the members and information here on this site.

I bought a Yellow '04 about 6 weeks ago and loving it. Already tore off the shovel, and a set of turn signals, I think there will be much more tweaking down the road, but we'll see. Anyway, hello everyone, I look forward to being a part of this community.

I'm new to sport bikes. Raced harescrambles and grew up riding in the woods. Started on streetbikes on an 1100 cruiser and then decided on a Ninja 250 for the gas mileage. I've been building a cafe bike out of a 75 RD350, so I am attracted to the naked sport bike. I purchased my 06 Honda 599 while on my honeymoon in Gatlinburg, TN. It's a little scratched but not overly tore up. It was just too good of a deal to pass up, and it was a bike I had not seen before. It is the greatest spur of the moment purchase that I have ever made. I like it more than an FZ6 or SV650. I rode it from Gatlinburg, TN back to Charleston, WV (little over 300 miles).

Spent the last couple hours in the garage just to familiarize myself with the basics, check everything more closely, think about mods, etc. I had been riding a '83 Nighthawk 650. I think I may be too excited to sleep! Looking forward to the morning ride. :thumbsup

Wheez, I was living in MPLS when I decided that was going to buy a bike, for real. Took a couple of years and a couple of moves to do so, but I remember the day I "put it out there". Was driving through Wirth Park cresting a hill with leaves blowing in the wind and said "I need to be on a bike right now." That put the wheels in motion, no pun intended. Anyway... WELCOME!

Picked up my 2004 599 last Sunday. Finally took it out today. It is fun. Can't wait to get more comfortable with it and take her out to the hill country.
Have been riding a Piaggio MP3 until now. What a difference.

Im a new rider, I've never had a motorcycle licence, and the only real experience i have is an old Yamaha street bike I rode around for a summer when i was 20 or so.

I'm older and wiser now, and can't wait to pick one of these bikes up.

I started to get interested in bikes again when I started seeing Cafe Racers on the discovery channel, cheesy huh? :mrgreen: I was originally going to try to find a CB750 to fix up into a Cafe bike, but I recently decided I'd be better off getting a more modern bike that has better and safer technology. I knew i didn't want a Full plastic street Racer, and i wanted something that the rider sits a little more upright.
Anyway I came across the 599 and the 919 while researching naked bikes, and knew that was the bike.
I thankfully did not go with a 919 as I have definitely come to find out it would be a lot to try to learn on.

So wish me luck in my search! I live in Denver, CO and I have about 5K to spend on the bike and some riding gear. My motorcycle safety class starts October the 7th.

Sounds like you have a great head on your shoulders and have taken the right steps to help keep it there. Welcome aboard! Good luck on your search - check out the bikes for sale section on this forum and keep your eye on craigslist.

If the photos actually loaded, they show the box I added to the left side. (glad the 599 has only one pipe on the right side) It's actually a handgun case, so y'all feel free to poke fun at it. If I can't at least pick up my mail at the Post Office, a bike doesn't have enough utility.

BTW, I had a hard time picking a screen name, but if you look at it upside down, it's kinda boring. :)

I'd actually like to see more than my shoulders, but don't know what's compatible. Also considering an adapter to move the stock mirrors outboard. What do you recommend.

Lots of mirror options out there. Some love Aprilias, some love bar ends, others spend a fortune on Rizomas. Look around and find what you like.

I took VinC's advice and got a pair of Aprilia mirrors. Wow! Not only can I see behind me now, but the bike looks way better. Thanks.

Hi. New to the site and the 599, bought the bike from niteowl72. 7200 miles and like new!
Got tired of the yellow so she is now metallic copper. Went from 525 chain and sprokets to 520 ( price and wt.) sliders ( cheap insurence ) shorty levers. Not planning on racing or track days , got that out of my system long ago! Seems to be just the right bike for rides on the parkway and forest. Anyway .... Yellow everyone!
